I’m currently traveling with the Steinhausen product development team to explore the manufacturing of some of the recently rediscovered product designs when the Steinhausen name was brought back to the Van-Heusen family. It turns out that most of the family was very passionate about not just watches but all sorts of technology (virtual Da Vinicis).
Some of the watch designs were decades ahead of their time, while some of the other concepts they came up with are still not even possible even with the rapid advancements in technology over the last 60 years. Currently, we are traveling all over the world to find the right materials to make some of the designs we have uncovered. Ulrich Van-Heusen was a world dreamer, often designing watches based upon the cities around the world that he visited and read about. You can feel the international influence in many of his rediscovered designs.
We are hoping to have several of the immaculate designs ready over the next few years. The first one is the Zehneck, which is currently available for pre-sale through SkyMall and will be available for general sale in the middle of November 2009.
